AMBA, a lake villa, has been designed in the traditional Sri Lankan style. This lake front property is located in the fishing village of Kathaluwa, facing the famous uninhabited "Madol Doowa" Island which was written about in the famous Sri Lankan Novel by Martin Wickramasinghe. If you have read the novel, it has a strange story about the one and only coconut tree on the island. It is still there for you to see.
Amba Villa comprises 5 large bedrooms, all with ensuites. Two of the bedrooms are in a separate guest villa on the other side of the swimming pool. All the rooms in the villas are extremely spacious and capture the spectacular views across the water to the mystical “Madol Doowa”. There is a large swimming pool set in spacious landscaped grounds. Amba Villa has an in-house chef who can delight your taste buds with authentic Sri Lankan cuisines and also with western dishes- whichever you would prefer.
From the Villa, it only takes 5 minutes for you to reach Koggala Beach and 20 minutes via tuk-tuk to the historic Galle Fort, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is not to be missed. A sunset walk along the ramparts is truly wonderful. While the villa itself is very private and secluded, there are plenty of shops and restaurants close by for all your needs.
